Prashant Narang is Deputy Director – Research and Programs at the TrustBridge Rule of Law Foundation. His research examines institutional design and regulatory choices in professional regulation, government contracting and dispute resolution, with an interest in the separation of functions and path dependence. He approaches regulation through institutional and legislative analysis, informed by law and economics as well as qualitative empirical work.

His engagement with professional regulation began with his LL.M. thesis at Jindal Global Law School on barriers to entry into the litigation profession in India. An article based on this work was subsequently published in the Asian Journal of Law and Economics (2012). He later authored a policy brief to the 21st Law Commission of India proposing reforms to the Advocates Act, 1961 and the Bar Council of India’s regulatory role (2016). As a Postdoctoral Researcher at the John Chambers College of Business and Economics, West Virginia University, he studied occupational licensing in India (2023-24).

Prashant holds a Ph.D. in Law and Governance from Jawaharlal Nehru University, where his doctoral work analysed Supreme Court decisions on the fundamental right to profession, occupation, trade or business, mapping standards of review and outcomes (2020). He also writes the Substack newsletter Scribbles and Sidebars on regulatory and policy issues.
