Abhas K. Jha works at the intersection of AI, digital technology, public policy, and cities. He works with a multilateral institution as Manager for Urban Development and Disaster Risk Management in Eastern and Southern Africa, where he leads work on urbanization, land, infrastructure, resilience, and service delivery across a wide range of country settings.
Over more than two decades, he has advised governments across Asia and Africa on how to manage rapid urban growth, strengthen public institutions, and use technology and data to solve hard development problems. His work focuses in particular on how AI, geospatial systems, digital platforms, and better public policy can help cities become more productive, resilient, and inclusive.
He writes and speaks widely on the future of cities, state capability, and the practical use of technology in government. His interests include land governance, urban service delivery, infrastructure resilience, and the ways in which new technologies can improve decision-making and implementation in complex institutional settings.
